TOTTENHAM TARGET SOUTHAMPTON MIDFIELDER VICTOR WANYAMA IN €22M MOVE
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a €22 million offer for Victor Wanyama, as manager Mauricio Pochettino seeks to bolster his midfield options ahead of the new season.
The Kenyan international, under contract with Southampton until June 2017, has emerged as a key figure at St Mary’s Stadium since his arrival from Celtic. However, his strong performances have drawn significant attention, with Spurs now leading the chase.
Crucially, Wanyama has history with Pochettino, having played under the Argentine during his managerial spell at Southampton. That prior relationship could be pivotal, as Pochettino is keen to reunite with the defensive midfielder he once helped develop.
According to the Daily Mail, Pochettino views the 24-year-old as a vital addition to his squad, capable of adding strength and stability to the heart of the midfield. While no deal has been finalised, the reported bid signals Tottenham’s intent to reinforce their squad with experienced Premier League talent.
Should the transfer go through, Wanyama would become the latest in a line of players to follow Pochettino from the South Coast to North London.
