Mame Biram Diouf’s Early Goal Not Enough as Stoke City Draw with QPR
Senegalese striker Mame Biram Diouf marked an early breakthrough for Stoke City during their fourth-round clash against Queens Park Rangers (QPR), but the match ended in a 2-2 draw at Loftus Road.
Diouf, known as the Lion of Teranga, opened the scoring with a close-range header, capitalising on a precise cross from Nigerian winger Victor Moses. Moses, who showcased his skill by beating a defender with a slick run before delivering the ball, played a pivotal role in setting up the goal. Peter Crouch provided the assist for Diouf’s opener and later scored Stoke’s second goal.
Despite Stoke taking the lead twice, QPR fought back with goals from Steven Caulker and Niko Kranjcar, ensuring the teams shared the points in a closely contested encounter.
This was the first occasion this season that Stoke managed to score before halftime, a positive sign for the Potters as they aim to improve their form. The draw leaves Stoke City eager to build on this performance in their upcoming fixtures.
