Real Madrid halt contract talks with Vinícius Júnior amid salary dispute

Premier League clubs are closely watching developments at Real Madrid as Vinicius Junior reportedly resists the club’s attempts to open new contract negotiations.

The winger’s current deal runs until 2027, leaving less than 18 months before he could sign a pre-contract with a foreign team and depart on a Bosman transfer.

Vinicius, who has Cameroonian heritage, is said to be unconvinced by coach Xabi Alonso’s approach, particularly after being substituted during Real Madrid’s recent El Clasico win over Barcelona.

The decision to start him on the bench in Sunday’s draw at Elche has added fuel to speculation about his future at the club.

According to The Athletic, Real Madrid’s efforts to secure a renewal have been largely blocked by Vinicius’ camp.

Disagreements appear to revolve around his role in the squad and the level of trust from Alonso, leaving the Brazil international hesitant to commit to a long-term deal.

Europe’s biggest clubs are reportedly monitoring the situation closely. Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea are understood to be keeping tabs, assessing the possibility of a high-profile signing should the winger become available.

PSG are also reported to be tracking him, though any move would require approval from coach Luis Enrique, who has the final say over transfers and squad plans.

Vinicius’ resistance has highlighted the tension between player ambitions and managerial decisions at Madrid.
