DR Congo star Ngal’ayel Mukau attracts Premier League interest

Lille OSC are once again preparing for a potentially transformative summer, with several of their prized assets attracting strong interest across Europe, continuing a trend that has become all too familiar at the Ligue 1 side.

The French outfit underwent a significant squad reshuffle last summer, parting ways with key names such as Jonathan David, Edon Zhegrova, Leny Yoro, and Angel Gomes.

Lille are now bracing for another wave of departures, with the DR Congo star attracting significant interest from the Premier League.

The 21-year-old is considered as one of the players Lille could be willing to part with, provided the right offer arrives.

Since joining the club in the summer of 2024, Mukau has steadily grown into a key figure under head coach Bruno Genesio. Despite fierce competition for places in midfield, the young talent has carved out a consistent role, featuring in 35 matches across all competitions this season. His composure, athleticism, and tactical awareness have not gone unnoticed.

That form has sparked firm interest from the Premier League, with Crystal Palace and West Ham United both closely monitoring his situation. The two clubs are understood to have tracked Mukau for several months and could formalize their interest with concrete offers when the summer transfer window opens.

While Lille are under no immediate pressure to sell—Mukau remains under contract until 2028—the club’s model of developing and exporting talent means a departure cannot be ruled out. Should a bidding war emerge, Lille may once again capitalize on their ability to turn rising stars into major transfer profits.

As the summer approaches, all signs point to another period of upheaval at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, with Mukau potentially the next name to follow the well-trodden path from Lille to Europe’s elite leagues.
