In an interview with the Daily Mail published on Thursday, Ben Arfa expressed his confusion about his situation at Newcastle. “I don’t know why I don’t play. You have to ask the manager. After the defeat against Manchester United (0-4), we had a very heated exchange of words but that’s all. I am sad and frustrated, but not angry, because I want to help my team and I do not have the opportunity to do so,” the former Marseille player explained.
Despite the strained relationship with manager Alan Pardew, the 27-year-old reiterated his desire to continue playing for Newcastle, as his contract runs until 2015. “If the manager tells me that he doesn’t believe in me for next season, I want to stay,” he stated. “I want to stay even if the manager doesn’t believe in me because I’m going to show him that I can play here. But if the president wants to sell me, I should leave…”
