Portuguese midfielder Nuno Santos travels to South African to seal Mamelodi Sundowns move

Portuguese midfielder Nuno Santos is expected to arrive in South Africa to seal a bumper move to giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 26-year-old is joining Mamelodi Sundowns from Vitória Guimarães as a replacement for Lucas Ribeiro, who recently departed the club to join a Spanish lower-tier club, CyD Leonesa.

Nuno Santos’ move is almost done, with the Portuguese attacking midfielder is expected to put pen to paper in the coming days. The highly-rated midfielder will join Sundowns on a permanent deal worth over $1m.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder scored six goals and created 11 assists for Vitória Guimarães SC in the Portuguese top division last season.

This season, Nuno Santos has made five appearances for Vitória Guimarães, serving an assist in the process.

With his wealth of experience, Sundowns will be counting on the enterprising midfielder as they seek to make a meaningful impact this season.

Nuno Santos has had stint with several clubs in Portugal including Benfica and Moreirense.

Sundowns are currently second on the South African League standings with 18 points after eight matches into the campaign.
