Portsmouth sign England and Sierra Leone winger Abu Kamara from Hull City

England and Sierra Leone winger Abu Kamara has joined Portsmouth from Hull City for a fee of €2.9m, completing a return to the Championship club on a contract running until 30 June 2029.

The 23-year-old plays on the right wing and is left-footed. Born in London, Kamara brings dual international nationality to a Portsmouth side which has secured his services after his spell with Hull.

Kamara’s move was completed on 10 August 2026, with the transfer fee exceeding his listed market value of €2.5m. His arrival gives Portsmouth another wide attacking option as the club continues its Championship campaign.

The winger previously represented Portsmouth during the 2023-24 season, when he was part of the side that won the English third-tier title. He subsequently moved on to Hull City before returning to Fratton Park in the latest transfer.

Kamara stands 1.83m tall and is listed primarily as a right winger. His preferred left foot offers a clear definition to his role on the flank, while his return connects the current Portsmouth squad with the club’s title-winning campaign of two seasons earlier.

The transfer also marks a move between clubs placed in different divisions, with Kamara leaving Hull City and joining Portsmouth. His new deal ties him to Portsmouth through the end of June 2029.

Kamara has now completed his move back to Portsmouth on a four-year contract.
