Spanish authorities are investigating a fatal road collision near Oliva, south of Valencia, after a 20-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash involving a car carrying Sira Martinez, the daughter of Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique.
The collision happened on Thursday evening on the N-332 national road, about an hour south of Valencia. The motorcycle rider was thrown from his vehicle after the impact. Emergency services attended the scene but were unable to save him.
Martinez and a 41-year-old British woman who was also in the car were not injured, according to reports cited by German newspaper Bild and Spanish media.
The Spanish Civil Guard has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Local reports say the British woman, described as an Olympic rider, was driving the car.
Alcohol and drug tests carried out at the scene were negative, according to the reports. Investigators are examining whether a possible illegal driving manoeuvre caused the collision. The British driver is being investigated on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.
The circumstances remain unclear, including the speed at which the motorcycle was travelling. A Civil Guard spokesperson said the organisation had no information it could share with the press at this stage.
Who is Sira Martinez?
Martinez, 26, is a model and professional show jumper. She has more than 400,000 followers on Instagram and has also attracted attention through her previous relationship with former Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.
The pair began dating while Torres was playing for Manchester City and remained together after his move to Barcelona. They separated in May 2023, after more than a year and a half together.
Martinez is the second of Luis Enrique’s children, according to Bild, after her brother Pacho, who is 28.
The former Spain manager’s youngest daughter, Xana, died in August 2019 at the age of nine after suffering from a rare form of bone cancer.
