Pogba outside Monaco’s top 10 earners despite high-profile return
Paul Pogba is no longer among the highest-paid players at AS Monaco, underlining the scale of the financial sacrifice he made to revive his career following suspension and injury setbacks.
The French-Guinean midfielder, who joined Monaco after serving a doping ban, is reportedly earning less than £44,000 per week, according to L’Equipe.
The figure places him outside the club’s top 10 earners, a stark contrast to the £290,000-per-week salary he commanded during his time at Manchester United.
Pogba’s return to competitive football has, however, been far from smooth. The 33-year-old has struggled for rhythm and fitness, spending over three months sidelined with a calf injury.
His limited availability has restricted his impact, with just 30 minutes of competitive action recorded for Monaco so far this season.
Despite those setbacks, there are signs of gradual progress. Pogba recently featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break, where he marked his return with a goal against Brentford’s B team at La Turbie.
The strike, a composed effort from outside the box, was his first since 2022, when he last scored in a Premier League draw against Burnley.
Monaco head coach Sebastien Pocognoli has indicated that the midfielder could be reintegrated into the squad following the March international window.
The club remains hopeful that Pogba can still play a meaningful role in the final stretch of the campaign, provided he maintains fitness.
