Paul Pogba has thrown his full support behind Ousmane Dembele to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or, following the Paris Saint-Germain winger’s influential role in the club’s dominant campaign last season.
Both players share strong African heritage—Pogba, born in France to Guinean parents, and Dembele, whose mother is Mauritanian and father is Malian—bringing added pride to their success stories at the highest level of European football.
Dembele was central to PSG’s historic achievement of clinching a continental quadruple, lifting the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions.
The 28-year-old winger was among the most decisive players for the Parisians, scoring crucial goals in both domestic and European competitions.
In a conversation with popular streamer IShowSpeed, Pogba endorsed his compatriot’s Ballon d’Or credentials: “I absolutely support Dembouz.
“He won the Champions League, he scored important goals… he was decisive all season. If he doesn’t win it this year, he’ll never win it.”
Pogba, who recently joined AS Monaco, also commented on fellow French star Kylian Mbappe’s debut season at Real Madrid, which ended with the forward winning the Pichichi Trophy as La Liga’s top scorer.
“He’s been criticised everywhere, but he finished as Pichichi and as the top scorer in Europe,” Pogba noted, underlining Mbappe’s resilience and prolific output in his first year away from France.
While Dembele’s form has sparked debate among fans and pundits, Pogba’s endorsement reflects the high regard the PSG forward holds among teammates.
With Ballon d’Or voting approaching, Dembele’s trophy-laden year and match-winning displays may well place him among the front-runners for football’s most prestigious individual honour.
