Playing in Premier League challenging; you have to be switched on all the time – Brandon Thomas-Asante
Brandon Thomas-Asante says competing in the English Premier League demands constant concentration, with challenges across the pitch making it essential for players to remain alert throughout matches.
The Ghanaian forward made the remarks after Coventry City’s 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night, a result that left his side 17th in the standings.
Thomas-Asante assisted Jack Rudoni’s equaliser four minutes after half-time, cancelling out James Maddison’s opener for Tottenham in the 14th minute.
However, Spurs responded with two more goals to claim victory, leaving Coventry with just two wins from their opening seven league matches.
The 27-year-old acknowledged the demands of competing at the highest level but remains confident that Coventry can improve and climb the table.
“It’s enjoyable. You have to be switched on all the time, and there are challenges all around,” he said.
His comments underline the level of concentration and consistency required as Coventry attempt to establish themselves in the top flight following their return to the Premier League.
The Sky Blues are currently just one point above the relegation zone, leaving them with little room for error as the season progresses.
Despite the setback against Tottenham, Thomas-Asante insists the team will continue to approach every match with the intention of winning.
“But we back ourselves, and we want to climb up the table. So it’s just a start,” he added.
Thomas-Asante and his teammates will now look to respond in their upcoming fixtures as they seek to move away from the bottom end of the table.
