Pitso Mosimane names final Bafana Bafana squad for 2027 AFCON qualifiers

Pitso Mosimane has confirmed his final Bafana Bafana squad for the 2027 AFCON Qualifiers, with South Africa set to face Guinea and Eritrea later this month.

Bafana Bafana will host Guinea on Saturday, 26 September before meeting Eritrea on Wednesday, 30 September.

Mosimane has retained the core of his regular squad, while Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe, Mamelodi Sundowns forward Cassius Mailula and Shandre Campbell, who now plays for Kortrijk, return to the national team.

The squad includes players from clubs across South Africa and overseas, with Mamelodi Sundowns providing the largest representation. Orlando Pirates are also strongly represented among the defenders and forwards.

Mailula’s return gives Mosimane another attacking option for the qualifiers, while Maboe adds further midfield depth after rejoining the national team setup. Campbell is also included following his move to Kortrijk.

The matches against Guinea and Eritrea form Bafana Bafana’s opening assignments in the 2027 AFCON Qualifiers, with Mosimane choosing experience alongside the returning trio as he finalises his group for the fixtures.
