Pitso Mosimane makes three changes as South Africa name strong Guinea qualifier line-up

Pitso Mosimane has made three changes to South Africa’s starting line-up for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea at Orlando Stadium.

Olwethu Makhanya, Kamogelo Sebelebele and Iqraam Rayners have been brought into the team after being left out of the side that faced Canada in Hugo Broos’s final match at the 2026 Fifa World Cup in Los Angeles.

The trio replace Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Khuliso Mudau and Evidence Makgopa, who are unavailable for various reasons.

Ronwen Williams continues in goal and retains the captaincy. The goalkeeper is protected by a four-man defence consisting of Aubrey Modiba, Selebelebele, Olwethu Makhanya and Okon.

Mosimane has selected Teboho Mokoena and Sphephelo Sithole as his two defensive midfielders.

They will operate behind an attacking trio of Oswin Appollis, Thapelo Maseko and Relebohile Mofokeng, with the team looking to create opportunities for Rayners.

Rayners has been chosen as the central striker, ahead of Cassius Mailula, Yanela Mbuthuma and Luther Singh.
