Pitso Mosimane gave me confidence to play - Al Ahly star Taher Mohamed

Al Ahly winger Taher Mohamed has credited former coach Pitso Mosimane with instilling the confidence that helped him flourish during his time at the Egyptian club.

Mosimane joined the Red Devils in 2020 from Mamelodi Sundowns and spent nearly two years at the helm. Mohamed followed shortly after, signing from El Mokawloon SC just a month into Mosimane’s tenure.

The pair were instrumental in guiding Al Ahly to a string of successes, including two CAF Champions League titles and the Egyptian Premier League trophy.

Even after Mosimane’s departure in 2022, Mohamed stayed with the team and has since played under several managers, including Marcel Koller and former Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro.

In a recent interview, the 28-year-old winger reflected on his time under Mosimane, highlighting the lessons and confidence he gained from the South African tactician.

“I cried while I was on the Al-Ahly bench against Baladeyet El-Mahalla, because I wanted to participate, as it was an easy match and I could have performed well and scored a goal that would give me a morale boost,” Mohamed said, per Sport360.

“All of Al Ahly’s coaches were good, including Jose Riveiro and Ricardo Soares, but the best duo for me are Marcel Koller and Pitso Mosimane.

“Mosimane gave me the confidence to play in more than one position, while from Koller I learned discipline and order on the field.”
