Pitso Mosimane could miss out on Zamalek SC vacant coaching job
Veteran gaffer Pitso Mosimane is likely to miss out on Zamalek’s vacant coaching job due to his previous stint in Egypt.
Mosimane has been strongly linked with a move to the White Knights ahead of the 2025/26 season after leaving Iranian giants Esteghlal FC in January.
The North African giants are in search of a new head coach following the departure of Jose Peseiro.
According to Twaslnews, a potential stumbling block in his move to Zamalek is his past stint with Egyptian rivals Al Ahly.
The report claims that new regulations at the club prohibit the hiring of coaches who have previously worked in the Egyptian Premier League.
Mosimane spent nearly two successful years at the Red Devils, where he won several trophies, including the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League.
However, despite that success, his previous involvement in Egyptian football may now work against him.
The report further alleges that Zamalek’s management has instructed the new sporting director not to enter into negotiations with Mosimane or any other coach with prior experience in the league.
Additionally, it is said that the club’s management prefers appointing a Portuguese coach, given the said historical success of them at Zamalek.
