Nkota Pirates

Orlando Pirates began their CAF Champions League group stage campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over CR Belouizdad at the 5 July 1962 Stadium on Tuesday. Teenage forward Mohau Nkota netted twice early in the match, ensuring the Buccaneers gained an important three points. South Africa’s Khanyisa Mayo scored for the hosts in the 66th minute, but the Pirates held firm to secure victory.

Egyptian giants Al Ahly made a statement with a commanding 4-2 victory over Stade d’Abidjan at the Cairo International Stadium.

Mahmoud Kahraba starred with two goals, while Mohamed Magdy and Hussein El Shahat also contributed to the reigning champions’ win.
