The future of veteran left-back Ali Maâloul continues to spark debate as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Reports linking the Tunisian international to Pharco FC, a club in Egypt’s Premier League, have been swiftly dismissed by the club’s head coach, Ahmed Khattab. In a recent interview with Kora Plus, Khattab clarified that Pharco FC has no intentions of pursuing the experienced Al Ahly defender.
“Ali Maâloul is a fantastic player, but he is an integral part of Al Ahly,” Khattab stated. “It would be difficult for him to leave the Red Devils, and we have no plans to sign him.” Maâloul, who is in his ninth season with Al Ahly, has built a legacy at the club, and with his contract expiring in the summer, speculation about his future remains high.
Currently valued at 500,000 euros, Maâloul has been sidelined due to injury but is expected to remain with Al Ahly for the 2024/25 season. Despite his age, the Tunisian is a key figure in the Red Devils’ squad.
