Petrus Boumal: Cameroon midfielder joins Al-Nahda on free transfer from Diyala

Cameroon midfielder Petrus Boumal has joined Omani side Al-Nahda on a free transfer from Iraqi club Diyala. The 33-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a deal running until May 2027 with the Jindal League outfit.

Boumal switches to Al-Nahda after a short spell in the Iraq Stars League, having moved to Diyala in January 2026 following a period without a club. His market value is currently listed at €300,000, reflecting his status as an experienced option at the base of midfield.

Born in Yaounde and also holding French nationality, the left-footed midfielder has built a career across several leagues in Europe and the Middle East. Before his stint in Iraq, he played in the UAE for Al-Bataeh and Al-Orooba, part of a sequence of moves that followed time in Hungary, Russia and Turkey.

Boumal’s most sustained spell came earlier in his career with CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria and Ural in Russia, where he accumulated significant game time in top-flight competitions including the efbet Liga and Russian Premier League. Across his various clubs he has surpassed 60 league appearances in both Bulgaria and Russia, underlining his experience at a high level.

The move to Al-Nahda gives the Yaounde-born midfielder a first opportunity in Omani football, with the club securing his services on a free transfer from Diyala until the end of the 2026-27 season.
