Petrojet secure Nigeria winger Abubakar Liadi from Ittihad Alex
Nigeria winger Abubakar Liadi has joined Petrojet from Ittihad Alex, switching clubs within Egypt’s Premier League.
The 23-year-old right winger completed the move on 5 August and has signed a contract with Petrojet running until 30 June 2028. Liadi was born in Ibadan and is predominantly right-footed.
Liadi arrives at Petrojet after one season with Ittihad Alex, whom he joined from Smouha in August 2025. That move was completed as a free transfer, while his latest switch brings an end to his time with Ittihad Alex after a single campaign.
He made 65 Premier League appearances during his career, scoring twice and providing six assists. He has also played in the Egyptian League Cup, Egypt Cup and relegation play-offs.
In the Egyptian League Cup, Liadi scored once and set up another goal in 11 appearances. He added one goal in six Egypt Cup matches and made five appearances in the relegation play-offs.
His move to Petrojet continues a run of club changes in Egypt after he first joined Smouha in January 2022. He spent three and a half years with the club before moving to Ittihad Alex last summer.
Petrojet and Ittihad Alex both compete in the Premier League, meaning Liadi remains in the same division as he begins his next chapter. His playing position gives the club an attacking option on the right side, while his contract commits him to Petrojet through the end of June 2028.
Liadi’s career record includes appearances across Egypt’s top-flight league and domestic cup competitions, with four recorded goals and seven assists in total. His most productive return has come in the Premier League, where six assists accompany his two goals.
The transfer adds an experienced Egyptian-league player to Petrojet’s squad, with Liadi joining after a season at Ittihad Alex and a previous spell at Smouha. The Nigeria international, who has a listed market value of €250,000, is now contracted to Petrojet until 2028.
