Former Zamalek midfielder Reda Abdel-Aal has voiced skepticism about Percy Tau’s potential transfer to Zamalek, raising doubts about its benefits for both the player and the club.
Tau, whose contract with Al Ahly is nearing expiration, faces an uncertain future.
Reports suggest the club is eager to release the South African forward during the January transfer window.
Allegedly, Al Ahly offered Tau $300,000 to terminate his contract early, but he reportedly refused, demanding the full $600,000 stipulated in his deal.
This season, the 30-year-old has not started a single match in the Egyptian Premier League, only appearing as a substitute in Al Ahly’s three games so far.
Amid these developments, Abdel-Aal advised Tau to explore options in the Gulf region instead of considering Zamalek or Pyramids FC.
“From my point of view, Percy Tau gave everything he had with the Al Ahly team in the past seasons and will not be technically useful to Zamalek or Pyramids, even if signed for free,” Abdel-Aal said on the El-Bermo show.
“Percy Tau will look in the coming period to play in the Gulf in order to secure his future after retiring from football permanently.”
