Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has received a strong vote of confidence from Pep Guardiola, with the Manchester City FC manager highlighting the striker’s importance ahead of a decisive run of fixtures in the English season.

Manchester City, who are currently second in the Premier League with 74 points, are preparing for a packed schedule that includes a postponed league clash against Crystal Palace FC, an FA Cup Final showdown with Chelsea FC, and key league fixtures against AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa FC.

Speaking ahead of the busy period, Guardiola singled out Marmoush as a key attacking option, emphasising his goal threat and high work rate within the squad.

“Yes, especially Omar Marmoush. It’s not easy because we usually play with only one striker. He is a real striker, and Erling is also there,” Guardiola said.

He highlighted the competition for places in attack, with Erling Haaland also leading the line, but stressed that Marmoush brings a different dimension to the team.

Guardiola was particularly impressed by the Egyptian’s consistency and attacking output, noting his ability to contribute whenever called upon.

“Haaland is a very important player for us, but Marmoush’s contribution is significant. He always scores goals, his playing time percentage is high, he is an excellent player,” he added.

The manager also underlined the importance of squad rotation as City approach a congested schedule that could define their season.

With multiple competitions still in play, Guardiola stressed the need to rotate and maintain energy levels across the squad.

“We want to rotate the players, because without that we won’t be able to reach the final or even the Bournemouth game. We will make our decisions,” he explained.

Marmoush is expected to play an increasingly important role in that rotation, offering Guardiola flexibility in attack alongside established stars such as Phil Foden.

Guardiola concluded by praising the depth and energy within his squad, highlighting Marmoush as one of the players capable of making a difference in high-pressure situations.

“We need energy, and Omar Marmoush gives us energy… You need everyone,” he said.

As Manchester City enter a decisive stage of their campaign, Marmoush’s role could become increasingly vital in their push for silverware on multiple fronts.
