Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed excitement over Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo’s versatility, praising the Black Stars attacker’s ability to excel in multiple positions.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, Semenyo has been deployed as a striker, right and left winger, and even as an attacking midfielder, providing Guardiola with numerous tactical options.
Speaking to the media, Guardiola highlighted the attributes that allow Semenyo to adapt seamlessly to different roles.
He cited the player’s pace, work rate, defensive contribution, and ability to take on defenders as key factors behind his positional flexibility.
“It’s not a secret. Sometimes you make a player play in a position that requires certain attributes, and he has them. So it’s not more complicated than that.
“If you need an attacking midfielder or someone to turn and attack the central defender, he has that attribute. To play right, left, both sides, he can do it. As a striker in behind, he can do it.
“He has incredible skills to do that. And he’s so open-minded, so generous in his effort. When he jumps, the pace he does it with is unbelievable. He also has an incredible sense of goal. These types of balls in the box, the second balls, the chaos, he’s always there. I smell that situation, and he’s really good.”
