Former Zimbabwean footballer Benjani Mwaruwari has condemned individuals who are exploiting his name to carry out criminal activities.

Reports have emerged that unknown scammers are using Mwaruwari’s identity to deceive people with false promises of overseas cruise ship job opportunities.

These fraudsters are allegedly operating through a phone number and managing a WhatsApp group named “All Cruise Ship Information.”

Having become aware of the scam, the former Manchester City striker has firmly denied any involvement and urged the public to remain vigilant.

“I want to make it clear that I am not involved in any cruise ship business, investment scheme, or WhatsApp group promoting such things,” said Mwaruwari, as per Nehanda Radio.

“These people are using my name and image without my permission to commit fraud. I urge the public not to be misled.

“I’ve worked hard to build my name and reputation, and it is painful to see criminals using it to deceive people.

“I encourage anyone who receives such messages to report them and warn others.”

Mwaruwari’s warning serves as a crucial reminder to verify the authenticity of offers and remain cautious of scams exploiting trusted names.
