Pedro Malanda switches to St Francis after Lucan United exit

Ireland-Angola left-back Pedro Malanda has joined St Francis from Lucan United on a free transfer, completing his latest move in Irish football.

Malanda, 23, made the switch on 4 August 2026 after one season with Lucan United. The defender was born in Tallaght, Dublin, and is a left-footed full-back who has represented both Ireland and Angola through his recorded nationalities.

His arrival gives St Francis an established option on the left side of defence as the new season begins. Malanda’s recorded competitive appearance came in the FAI Cup, where he played 71 minutes.

The transfer continues a sequence of free moves for Malanda since he left Crumlin United in 2023. He joined Bluebell United that summer before moving to Lucan United on 1 July 2025, also without a transfer fee.

Malanda spent the 2025-26 campaign with Lucan United before moving on to St Francis. His latest switch was completed at the start of the 2026-27 season, with the clubs involved in the deal based in Ireland.

The 23-year-old’s background combines Irish and Angolan nationality, while his footballing path to St Francis has so far taken him through Crumlin United, Bluebell United and Lucan United.

St Francis have now secured Malanda’s services following his departure from Lucan United, with the left-back joining the club as a free transfer.
