Lamine Yamal all fired up ahead of Barcelona's second leg clash against Atletico Madrid

Pedri has expressed concern over an injury to teammate Lamine Yamal after a narrow win for FC Barcelona over Celta Vigo, a result that strengthened their hold on top spot in La Liga but came at a worrying cost.

Barcelona secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the Spotify Camp Nou, extending their lead at the summit over Real Madrid with just six matches remaining in the season.

The decisive moment came from Yamal, who calmly converted from the penalty spot to seal all three points.

However, the joy of his contribution was quickly tempered as the young forward picked up an injury during the execution of the spot-kick.

Speaking after the match, Pedri did not hide his concern for the teenager’s condition, stressing both the immediate uncertainty and the long-term importance of a careful recovery.

“I hope he is sidelined for as few weeks as possible. He is set to undergo tests this Thursday. I wish him a speedy recovery and patience; he is still young and it is vital that he recovers well,” he told Movistar+.

Beyond the individual setback, Pedri also turned his attention to the overall performance, acknowledging that Barcelona were pushed into an uncomfortable rhythm by a well-organised Celta side.

The midfielder admitted that his team struggled to impose their usual pressing structure and were frequently drawn into inefficient phases of play.

“We struggled to press their players effectively. Celta flooded the midfield, which led to us running aimlessly and wasting energy. These are the details we must adjust for our upcoming matches,” he noted, pointing to tactical refinements needed in the title run-in.

Despite those concerns, Pedri emphasised the value of securing maximum points at this stage of the campaign.

With Barcelona maintaining a nine-point cushion over their nearest rivals, the title remains firmly within reach, though the midfielder urged consistency and focus.

“We have to stay focused game by game. Hopefully, we can wrap up the LaLiga title as quickly as possible,” he added.
