Former Togo national team coach Paulo Duarte has swiftly found a new opportunity, signing a one-season contract with Al-Kholood in Saudi Arabia.
The Portuguese technician’s resignation from the Togo national team, effective Thursday, June 20, was quickly followed by his appointment as the new coach of Al-Kholood, recently promoted to the Saudi top-flight.
Duarte brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously coached football clubs in Portugal, France, Tunisia, Angola, and the national teams of Burkina Faso and Gabon.
Al-Kholood’s management, led by Muhammad Al-Khalifa, announced the appointment on social media, welcoming Duarte to the team.
The 55-year-old coach will be joined by Portuguese midfielder Afonso Taira, who currently plays for the club.
Duarte’s extensive coaching career has equipped him to lead Al-Kholood in the Saudi Professional League, and his expertise is expected to contribute significantly to the team’s success.
