Paul Wade: French-Senegalese midfielder joins RE Virton on free transfer from Chateauroux
RE Virton have added attacking midfielder Paul Wade to their squad, with the French-Senegalese player arriving on a free transfer from LB Chateauroux. The 26-year-old moves into the Belgian Challenger Pro League after leaving the French National 1 side at the end of his spell there.
Wade, who is comfortable operating in an advanced central role, switches to Virton as a ready-made option between midfield and attack. His move strengthens the Belgian club with a player who has recent experience in competitive senior football in France’s third tier.
The midfielder had been with Chateauroux in National 1 Group C, featuring in a division known for its physical and tactical demands. His performances there helped establish his profile, with his market value currently estimated at around €250,000, making his capture on a free transfer a low-risk addition for Virton.
For Wade, the transfer represents a first step into Belgian football and an opportunity to test himself in a different environment. The Challenger Pro League offers a higher-profile platform than the French third tier, with regular exposure to clubs competing for promotion and looking to develop players for top-flight level.
Wade’s arrival is confirmed as a permanent move, with no fee paid to Chateauroux following the expiry of his previous deal, leaving Virton to cover only salary and associated signing costs as they integrate the attacking midfielder into their squad.
