Paul Put to remain head coach of Uganda until 2028

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has renewed Paul Put’s contract as head coach of the Uganda Cranes through 2028.

According to FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson, this decision reflects the association’s commitment to stability and continuity as Uganda prepares to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations under the PAMOJA arrangement.

FUFA’s leadership also stated that Put’s contract extension follows speculation and public concern about the future of the national team. They emphasized that, under Put’s guidance, Uganda achieved notable results, including a remarkable run in the CHAN tournament and coming close to qualifying for the World Cup for the first time.

The contract ensures that Put will continue his role with the senior team, as well as oversee the CHAN and under-23 boys’ squads, guiding strategy and player selection. Upcoming matches include friendlies against Chad and Morocco scheduled for November 2025.

FUFA expressed gratitude to the Ugandan government and sports authorities for their ongoing financial support. The federation believes that under Put’s leadership, the Cranes can reach new heights in African football.
