Paul Pogba back in Monaco training as comeback gathers pace

Paul Pogba has taken a significant step in his long and complicated return to top-level football, rejoining full first-team training at AS Monaco after his latest injury setback.

The 33-year-old midfielder’s comeback has been anything but smooth. Having only recently returned from a lengthy doping ban, Pogba has struggled to build momentum, managing just 30 minutes of action across three appearances for the Ligue 1 side.

His progress was further disrupted by a calf injury sustained in December, forcing another spell on the sidelines at a time when he was looking to regain rhythm and sharpness.

Now back in regular training, however, there are renewed signs of progress. Pogba’s return to the training pitch is being viewed internally as a crucial phase in his rehabilitation, offering both the player and the club hope that he can still play a meaningful role before the end of the season.

While match fitness remains a key hurdle, simply being able to train consistently marks a positive shift after months of uncertainty.

Head coach Sebastien Pocognoli has already indicated that the Frenchman’s return to competitive action may not be far off.

The Monaco boss recently suggested that Pogba could be ready to feature again shortly after the March international break, a timeline that would provide the midfielder with a realistic window to ease back into matchday squads.

For Pogba, the focus now is on continuity. After a stop-start period defined by suspension and injury, the immediate priority is to rebuild physical condition and regain confidence on the ball. His experience and pedigree remain unquestioned, but the challenge lies in translating that into sustained contributions on the pitch.

Monaco, meanwhile, will be hoping that Pogba’s gradual reintegration can add depth and quality to their midfield options as the campaign enters its decisive phase. Should he stay fit, his presence could yet prove influential in the closing stretch of the season.
