Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu breaks foreign scoring streak at Trabzonspor
Paul Onuachu has written his name into Trabzonspor history after scoring for a sixth consecutive Süper Lig match, setting a new club record in the process.
The Nigerian striker’s 18th goal of the season came in the victory over Fatih Karagümrük, extending a remarkable run that no foreign player at the club had previously achieved.
His latest strike not only secured another personal milestone but also underlined his importance to Trabzonspor’s campaign.
Before Onuachu’s surge, the longest scoring sequence by a foreign player in the Turkish top flight for the club stood at five matches.
That mark had been shared by former forwards Shota Arveladze and Henrique, both of whom enjoyed prolific spells in Trabzon.
Onuachu has now moved clear of that benchmark, standing alone with six successive league games on the scoresheet.
His achievement also sees him surpass the personal best of his current head coach, Fatih Tekke.
The former Trabzonspor forward, who once managed five consecutive league goals for the club during his playing days, has now seen his record overtaken by the striker he manages.
Onuachu’s contribution against Karagümrük went beyond finding the net. In addition to scoring, he also provided an assist, further demonstrating his influence in the final third.
His combined goal and assist tally continues to drive Trabzonspor’s attacking momentum at a crucial stage of the season.
With 18 goals to his name so far, the Nigeria international has become central to Trabzonspor’s ambitions.
His consistent performances and record-breaking streak have cemented his place as one of the standout performers in the Süper Lig this term.
As the season progresses, Onuachu’s form will remain vital to the club’s hopes, but for now, his six-match scoring run has already secured him a unique place in Trabzonspor’s history.
