Paul Mbong: Malta-Nigeria winger returns to Floriana from Cukaricki

Malta-Nigeria winger Paul Mbong has rejoined Floriana from Serbian club Cukaricki, signing a deal with the Maltese Premier League side until 30 June 2027. The 24-year-old right-sided attacker makes the move back to the club after a previous loan spell last season.

Mbong returns to Floriana from Cukaricki in a permanent transfer, having initially moved to Serbia from Birkirkara in 2025 on a free transfer. He spent the second half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Floriana, before his stay in Serbia ended this summer and the Maltese club moved to bring him back on a longer-term basis.

Born in Marsaskala and standing at 1.75m, Mbong operates primarily as a right winger and plays off his right foot. He has already accumulated significant experience in the Maltese top flight, with 100 league appearances, 11 goals and 13 assists, as well as further outings in domestic cup competitions and European qualifiers.

The wide player has also had a taste of football outside Malta, featuring in the Serbian SuperLiga and in European competition, including UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying ties. His domestic honours include lifting the Maltese Cup with Birkirkara in the 2022-23 season.

Mbong, whose market value is listed at €300,000, now commits his future to Floriana for the next season as he prepares for a full campaign back in the Maltese Premier League.
