PAUL-GEORGES NTEP: HE PREFERS MONEY TO PRESTIGIOUS CLUBS

Despite being highly popular due to his impressive performances with the French Espoirs (Under-21 national team), young talent Paul-Georges Ntep is set to leave AJ Auxerre this winter. However, contrary to expectations, he won’t be heading to Olympique de Marseille or Stade Rennais, both of which had agreements in place with Auxerre. According to Yvonne Républicaine, the Cameroonian-origin player rejected an offer from Schalke 04 and is solely interested in a high salary that Queens Park Rangers (QPR) is willing to offer him. The issue lies in the fact that QPR’s transfer offer falls short of Auxerre’s expectations, leading to frustration for Guy Cotret, the president of AJ Auxerre.

Cotret expressed disappointment, revealing, “We received a really interesting offer from a foreign club qualified for the Champions League. But the player and his agent remain stuck on an offer from Queens Park Rangers. The agent indicated that he and his player only wanted to go to QPR. That’s now three major offers that the player and his agent have scuppered.” Cotret also mentioned that he met with QPR’s leaders and discussed the situation extensively. Although QPR made a slightly higher proposal, it remains inadequate, and the English club appears unwilling to significantly increase their offer.

Ntep’s decision to reject a club playing in the Champions League for a second division team in England has raised eyebrows, especially considering he chose not to play for his home country.
