Patson Daka cleared after leaving Hamburger SV training early

Patson Daka has avoided a serious injury after leaving Hamburger SV training early on Tuesday.

The Zambian forward reportedly went inside before the session ended as a precaution, but Hamburger Morgenpost indicated that he experienced no major problems.

The update should reassure HSV ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga meeting with FC Koln, although Daka’s place in the starting lineup is now uncertain. The striker played behind the main forward during Hamburg’s 5-0 defeat against RB Leipzig, but competition for that role is intensifying.

Fabio Vieira is pushing for a starting opportunity and could occupy the position behind the striker. Daka may also have to compete with Terem Moffi and Yussuf Poulsen for selection in attack. According to Hamburger Morgenpost, the latter two currently appear to have a slight advantage in what is expected to be a closely contested battle.

Hamburg’s plans could still change if defensive absences force the coaching staff to reshuffle other positions. Such adjustments might influence the attacking lineup and create another opportunity for Daka.

For now, the 27-year-old remains available for the weekend fixture. His early training departure was precautionary, but he must convince the coaching staff that he deserves to retain his place.
