French coach of Senegalese, descent Patrick Vieira has celebrated his first win as Genoa manager, guiding the team to a 2-0 triumph over Udinese in a Round 14 Serie A clash on Sunday, December 1.
Genoa’s victory was sealed with goals from Andrea Pinamonti in the 13th minute and an own goal by Udinese’s Lautaro Giannetti in the 67th minute.
The result lifted Genoa to 14 points in the league standings, while Udinese’s tally remained at 17 points following their fourth loss in a five-game winless streak.
The match took a decisive turn early on, as Udinese’s French defender Isaac Toure was sent off for elbowing Alessandro Zanoli shortly after kickoff.
Playing with a numerical advantage for most of the game, Vieira’s side capitalized on the opportunity to dominate proceedings.
Patrick Vieira, who took over from Alberto Gilardino during last month’s international break, will look to build on this win to steer Genoa to more positive results as the Serie A campaign unfolds.
