Patrick Vieira names first Senegal squad with Sadio Mane absent

Patrick Vieira has announced his first Senegal squad for the upcoming international break, with Sadio Mane left out because of physical problems.

Senegal will begin their qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with matches against Mozambique and Ethiopia, before facing Comoros in a friendly.

Vieira took charge after Aliou Cisse was dismissed following Senegal’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup, which was hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Senegal were beaten 3-2 by Belgium in the last 32 after the match went to extra time.
