Patrick Soko: Cameroon winger at UD Almeria linked with CD Leganes move

Patrick Soko, the Cameroon right winger currently at UD Almeria, is being linked with a move to LaLiga2 rivals CD Leganes as clubs step up late-summer transfer business in Spain’s second tier.

The 28-year-old, who wears the No.19 shirt for Almeria, is under contract at the Power Horse Stadium until 30 June 2028, meaning any deal is expected to require a fee rather than representing a free transfer opportunity. His market value is currently estimated at €1.2 million, a figure likely to form a reference point in any discussions between the clubs.

Soko joined Almeria on a free transfer from SD Huesca on 1 July 2025 and has since established himself in Spain’s second division, where he has made 80 LaLiga2 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists. His performances from the right flank have come after steady progression through Spanish lower leagues and Mexican football, including spells at Atlas, Atlante and Mineros de Zacatecas.

Born in Douala on 31 October 1997, Soko has also experienced continental success earlier in his career, having lifted the Caribbean Club Championship with Cibao FC in the 2016-17 season. That title-winning stint helped launch his move to North and then European football.

While Leganes are exploring wide attacking options within the division, Almeria’s position is shaped by Soko’s long-term deal and recent status as a regular in LaLiga2, leaving the player’s contractual situation as a key factor in whether any transfer progresses beyond initial interest.
