Manchester United’s disastrous season continued with a narrow 1-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, their 18th defeat in the Premier League.
Yet, defender Patrick Dorgu made it clear the Europa League final wasn’t a distraction.
“Everyone is really disappointed. We were not really thinking about the Europa League final; we were thinking about winning this game. Everyone is really angry and disappointed in the dressing room,” Dorgu said.
The struggling Red Devils started strong in the first half, keeping control of the ball. But once again, a lapse in concentration proved costly.
“I think we started really well, we were controlling the game in the first half, and then we had a similar situation where they scored a really cheap goal. We then found it difficult to equalise and score a goal,” he added.
United, stuck in the lower level, are set to finish one of their worst league campaigns in recent memory. Their only hope for redemption now lies in lifting the Europa League trophy, a final chance to save face.
