Patrice Neveu names preliminary Togo squad ahead of March training camp
Patrice Neveu has announced his first preliminary squad as head coach of the Togo national football team, marking the start of a new chapter for the side ahead of the March international break.
The French manager has selected an expanded group of players for a training camp scheduled to take place in Morocco from 23 to 31 March.
The gathering will serve as the first step in Neveu’s project with the team, allowing him to evaluate his options before confirming a final list in the coming days.
This initial selection offers the coach an opportunity to observe a broad pool of players while preparing the foundations of his tactical approach.
The final squad, which will be announced later, will form the core group expected to represent Togo in upcoming international competitions.
Beyond simply preparing for friendly matches, the camp is intended to help Neveu assess the physical condition of established players while introducing new faces into the national team environment.
Training sessions during the week-long camp are also expected to focus on developing tactical discipline and team organisation as the Hawks begin a new cycle under their recently appointed coach.
The programme will conclude with two friendly matches against African opposition.
Togo will first face Guinea national football team on 27 March in Rabat.
Four days later, the Hawks will play Niger national football team on 31 March in Casablanca.
These two fixtures are expected to provide Neveu with his first opportunity to assess the squad in competitive conditions and measure the team’s cohesion as his tenure begins.
The Togolese football federation is expected to confirm the final list of players shortly after the training camp begins.
