CAF President Patrice Motsepe has praised the steady progress being made by East African nations as preparations intensify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, with particular attention on Kenya’s readiness to co-host the continental showpiece.

Speaking during his visit to Nairobi, Motsepe highlighted Kenya’s recent strides in securing its hosting status, including the completion of key financial requirements and the acceleration of major infrastructure projects tied to the tournament.

He noted that the developments reflect a broader regional commitment to delivering a successful edition of Africa’s premier football competition.

“Kenya is amongst the three nations that will host next year’s AFCON… the biggest sporting event on African soil,” Motsepe said, underscoring the significance of the tournament for the continent.

While in the Kenyan capital, the CAF President is also holding meetings with local officials and undertaking inspections of key sporting facilities.

Among the venues under review are the Talanta Sports Stadium and the Moi International Sports Centre (Kasarani), both central to Kenya’s hosting plans.

The visit comes at a crucial stage in preparations, with stakeholders across the region working to ensure infrastructure, logistics, and operational standards meet CAF requirements ahead of the tournament.

With momentum building, attention now turns to how effectively the East African trio can translate commitments into delivery as the countdown to AFCON 2027 continues.

Confederation of African Football remains closely engaged in monitoring progress across all host nations as preparations enter a decisive phase.
