Patrice Evra Set to Join Juventus from Manchester United
Turin, July 2014 — French international Patrice Evra is poised to embark on a new chapter in his career, with a transfer from Manchester United to Juventus all but confirmed. The experienced left-back will leave the Premier League after eight and a half seasons at Old Trafford to join the Italian champions.
According to multiple English media outlets, the deal is complete and an official announcement is expected within the next 24 hours. Evra, 33, made 33 Premier League appearances and scored once for Manchester United in the 2013–2014 season. A key figure in United’s success over the past decade, his move marks the end of an era for the Red Devils.
The transfer fee is reported to be around €2 million, although previous reports in the Italian press had suggested a figure closer to €4.4 million. Regardless of the final sum, the acquisition is seen as a strategic move by Juventus to strengthen their defense with a player of proven international pedigree and extensive Champions League experience.
Evra’s decision to move comes despite having recently signed a one-year contract extension with Manchester United, signaling a sudden but significant shift in his career plans. At Juventus, he will reunite with several familiar faces from the French national team and bring veteran leadership to a squad seeking further European success.
His departure from United follows a summer of transition at the club under new manager Louis van Gaal, with the Dutchman overseeing a significant reshaping of the squad.
Evra joined Manchester United in January 2006 from AS Monaco and went on to win five Premier League titles and the 2008 UEFA Champions League among numerous other honours. His leadership on and off the pitch made him a fan favourite and a respected figure in the dressing room.
Now, as he prepares to begin a new adventure in Serie A, Evra will aim to add to his already impressive trophy collection with the Bianconeri.
