Nigerian pastor Primate Elijah Ayodele has issued a stern warning to Victor Osimhen, advising the Napoli striker to avoid joining Premier League club Chelsea. The outspoken founder of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church cautioned that a move to Stamford Bridge could have disastrous consequences for Osimhen’s career.
Speaking in a video shared on social media platform X, Ayodele did not mince words, saying, “I want to quickly advise, as directed, Osimhen not to go to Chelsea.
If you go to Chelsea, you will not shine, and it will kill your career.” His remarks come as speculation continues to swirl around Osimhen’s future, with several top clubs reportedly interested in the Nigerian international.
Osimhen, who has made headlines throughout the summer with rumors of an impending transfer, has been linked to several high-profile clubs, including Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and various teams in Saudi Arabia.
However, his hefty €120 million release clause appears to be a significant barrier, deterring potential suitors.
The possibility of Osimhen moving to Chelsea has gained traction in recent days, especially following the London club’s unsuccessful attempt to secure Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion.
With Chelsea still in search of a top-tier striker, the 24-year-old Nigerian has emerged as a potential target. However, Ayodele’s warning casts doubt on whether this move would be in Osimhen’s best interest.
Ayodele’s warning extended beyond the player’s club career. He also urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to reconsider inviting Osimhen to the national team should he make the switch to Chelsea.
“NFF, if Osimhen goes to Chelsea, don’t call him. They need to review calling Osimhen to the Super Eagles properly,” Ayodele said, further emphasizing his belief that a transfer to the English side would not bode well for the striker.
Osimhen’s future has been the subject of much debate, particularly after he submitted a transfer request last week, signaling his desire to leave Napoli.
While his next destination remains uncertain, the warnings from Ayodele add an unexpected dimension to the ongoing transfer saga.
The pastor’s comments have sparked conversations within the football community, particularly among Nigerian fans who are keenly following Osimhen’s career trajectory.
As the speculation continues, it remains to be seen whether the striker will heed the advice or pursue a move to one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
For now, Osimhen’s future is hanging in the balance, with potential deals likely being weighed against the backdrop of Ayodele’s ominous prediction.
The football world waits to see whether the Napoli star will take the risk of joining Chelsea or choose a different path in his professional journey.
