Paris Saint-Germain thrashes Montpellier 6-0 as Hakimi shines

Paris Saint-Germain delivered a commanding performance, demolishing Montpellier 6-0 at the Parc des Princes on Friday night. The emphatic victory marked PSG’s second consecutive win of the new Ligue 1 season, setting a high standard as they continue their campaign.

Bradley Barcola, who had already found the back of the net in PSG’s opening match against Le Havre, wasted no time in making his mark.

The young forward opened the scoring just four minutes into the match, capitalizing on a well-crafted attack to give the hosts an early lead.

Barcola’s quick strike set the tone for what would become a one-sided affair.

The momentum continued in PSG’s favor as Marco Asensio added a second goal in the 24th minute.

The Spanish international, assisted by Joao Neves after another impressive run by Barcola, coolly slotted the ball past Montpellier’s goalkeeper, doubling the advantage.

PSG’s relentless pressure kept Montpellier on the back foot, and it was only a matter of time before the floodgates opened further.

Barcola, who was in sensational form, scored his second goal of the evening in the 53rd minute, further extending PSG’s lead.

His clinical finish capped off a swift attacking move that left Montpellier’s defense in disarray. Just five minutes later, Achraf Hakimi joined the scoring party with a stunning strike, making it 4-0 for the Parisians.

Hakimi’s goal, a powerful effort from outside the box, highlighted the right-back’s attacking prowess.

The barrage continued with Warren Zaïre-Emery adding a fifth goal in the 60th minute. The 17-year-old midfielder showcased his talent with a composed finish, further demoralizing the visitors.

As the match drew to a close, Lee Kang-in sealed the comprehensive victory in the 82nd minute, making it 6-0 with a well-placed shot that rounded off a perfect evening for PSG.

Montpellier, unable to cope with PSG’s pace and precision, were left chasing shadows for much of the match. The defeat leaves them with much to ponder as they look to regroup for their next fixture.

For Paris Saint-Germain, the win not only reinforces their title ambitions but also sends a clear message to their rivals.

With key players like Barcola, Asensio, and Hakimi in fine form, PSG appears poised for another dominant season in Ligue 1.

As the season progresses, the Parisians will look to build on this momentum and continue their march towards domestic and European success.
