Paris FC turn to Watford captain Imran Louza in bid to strengthen midfield

Paris FC have identified Imran Louza as their leading midfield target as they look to improve on last season’s 11th-place finish in Ligue 1 and make a more competitive start to the new campaign.

According to information from Sacha Tavolieri, the Parisian club see the Morocco international as the preferred player to take control of their midfield. Paris FC are seeking targeted reinforcements and believe Louza could provide greater composure and authority in possession.

The 27-year-old is reportedly open to leaving Watford this summer, as previously revealed exclusively by Africafoot. However, any move to France is likely to prove difficult to complete because of his contractual situation and the level of interest in his services.

Louza came through the academy at FC Nantes before moving to England in 2021. He has since established himself at Watford and is now captain of the Championship club.

The midfielder enjoyed the most productive season of his career last term, despite Watford finishing 16th in the Championship. Across 44 appearances, Louza scored seven goals and supplied 10 assists, figures which have attracted attention from clubs looking for creativity and control in midfield.

Paris FC’s interest is therefore based on both his experience and his recent form. The club want to approach the new Ligue 1 season with stronger guarantees after finishing in the bottom half of the table last season, and Louza is considered the main option to help reshape the team’s engine room.

Watford, though, are in a strong negotiating position. Louza remains under contract with the Hornets until 2028, meaning Paris FC would have to overcome a significant financial hurdle to secure his return to France.

The former FC Nantes player’s possible departure is therefore dependent on several factors, including Watford’s willingness to negotiate, Paris FC’s ability to meet the financial demands of the deal and the interest of Premier League clubs. For now, Louza remains tied to the Hornets for another two years beyond the current campaign, but Paris FC have made him their priority as they seek a more influential presence in midfield.
