Samir Chergui in Action for Paris FC

Paris FC are prepared to consider offers for Algeria international Samir Chergui during the summer transfer window, signalling a different approach to the defender’s future compared with the club’s stance on teammate Ilan Kebbal.

While the French club have reportedly ruled out the possibility of Kebbal leaving, the same position has not been adopted for Chergui.

Paris FC are understood to be willing to listen to proposals for the 27-year-old central defender, whose fortunes have changed dramatically over the past season.

Chergui had established himself as one of the club’s most influential players during the opening months of the 2025-26 campaign under Stéphane Gilli.

His consistent displays at the heart of the defence earned him a regular starting role and helped secure his place in the Algeria national team, where he quickly became part of Vladimir Petkovic’s plans.

However, his progress was interrupted by a thigh injury suffered in November. According to the available information, the setback became more complicated after the defender returned to action earlier than expected in order to participate in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The decision reportedly aggravated his physical condition, delaying his return to competitive football until March. By the time he was available again, circumstances at Paris FC had changed.

The arrival of Antoine Kombouaré as the club’s manager reshaped the team’s selection, and Chergui struggled to regain his place in the starting line-up.

He featured only occasionally during the second half of the season, a sharp contrast to the prominent role he had enjoyed before his injury.

Despite limited opportunities at club level, Chergui continued to receive the backing of Algeria’s coaching staff. He remained part of the national team’s squad for the 2026 World Cup and was given playing time during the group-stage match against Austria.

The coming weeks could prove decisive for the defender’s career. Although remaining at Paris FC and attempting to reclaim a regular place under new coach Liam Rosenior has not been ruled out, a move elsewhere before the transfer window closes is also viewed as a realistic possibility.

For Chergui, the priority will be returning to full fitness after a season disrupted by injury. Rebuilding his form and putting his muscle problems behind him will be central to his ambitions, whether that takes place in Paris or at another club.

After experiencing a rapid rise followed by an equally difficult setback, the Algeria international now faces a pivotal period that could shape the next chapter of his professional career.
