Paris Brunner’s Monaco rise points to potential €4m transfer windfall

Paris Brunner has emerged as one of the early revelations of the 2026/27 season, with his goalscoring form rapidly increasing his profile at AS Monaco.

The 20-year-old German-Congolese forward scored again on Friday as Monaco beat Racing Club de Lens 2-1 at Louis-II. His fourth goal in five Ligue 1 appearances, the strike took his tally to six goals in seven matches in all competitions, including two against Gornik Zabrze in the UEFA Conference League play-offs.

That form represents a significant change in fortunes for Brunner. Last season, he made only one league start and spent much of the campaign as a substitute before a hamstring injury disrupted his involvement towards the end of the season.

The arrival of Filipe Luis as Monaco manager has transformed his position in the squad. Brunner has started every match since the beginning of the current campaign and, alongside summer signing Matthis Abline, has moved ahead of Folarin Balogun in the attacking pecking order.

There are already three reasons why Monaco could eventually secure a substantial profit on their investment.

A rapid rise in his statistics

Brunner’s four goals in five Ligue 1 matches have placed him among the division’s leading scorers and reflect the confidence Filipe Luis has shown in him.

At his age, sustained consistency can quickly alter a player’s standing in the transfer market. If he maintains his current scoring rate, performances that have attracted attention in France are likely to draw interest from clubs across Europe.

Brunner also possesses several qualities sought at the highest level: youth, versatility across attacking positions and considerable potential for further improvement. Those attributes could push his value upwards quickly.

A modest initial investment

Monaco signed Brunner for about 4 million euros in the summer of 2024. Compared with the potential he is now demonstrating, that represents a relatively small outlay for the club.

His current estimated market value remains far lower than his performances might suggest. Transfermarkt places it at 1.5 million euros, while FotMob values him at 2.4 million.

Those figures may already appear out of step with his current momentum, although the full effect of this season on his market value will only become clear later. With his contract running until June 2028, Monaco are also in a strong negotiating position should they eventually consider a sale.

Germany opportunity

Brunner has recently received his first call-up to the Germany Under-21 squad. He is due to feature in upcoming European Under-21 Championship qualifiers against Latvia, Malta and Georgia.

A sustained place at that level could increase his visibility, while a future first appearance for the Germany senior team would raise his profile further. Brunner already has significant experience with Germany’s youth sides, and progressing towards the senior squad would make him even more attractive to leading European clubs.

It is too early to discuss a transfer worth tens of millions of euros. However, after arriving for 4 million euros, establishing himself as a Monaco starter and becoming one of Ligue 1’s most effective players, Brunner is following a trajectory that could deliver one of the club’s next major profits.
