Pape Youssou Niang joins Al-Hurriya SC as Senegal midfielder starts new chapter
Senegal midfielder Pape Youssou Niang has joined Syrian club Al-Hurriya SC on a free transfer from AJEL Rufisque.
The 23-year-old central midfielder completed the move on 26 August 2026 after spending the previous part of his career with AJEL Rufisque. Niang is right-footed and stands 1.90m tall, offering Al-Hurriya an experienced young option in the middle of the pitch.
Niang joined AJEL Rufisque from Belgian side KAS Eupen on 22 February 2026. His spell at Eupen followed a period without a club, before he returned to competitive football in October 2023.
His career record includes 10 appearances in Belgium’s Challenger Pro League, where he scored once and provided one assist. He also made seven Ligue 1 appearances, along with a further seven outings in Turkey’s U19 Super Lig.
Niang’s early career included a spell with Galatasaray’s under-19 side, with whom he won the Turkish U19 championship during the 2021-22 season. He later moved to AJEL Rufisque in December 2022 before continuing his career in the United Arab Emirates with Al-Ain.
The transfer gives Niang a fresh opportunity after a series of moves across Senegal, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Belgium. His arrival at Al-Hurriya represents the latest step in a career that has already included senior football in several countries.
Niang’s move to Al-Hurriya SC was completed on 26 August 2026.
