Smouha secured back-to-back Egyptian Premier League victories with a 1-0 win over Ghazl El Mahalla at Borg El Arab Stadium.
Pape Badji scored the only goal of the sixth-round match, extending Smouha’s winning run after their identical victory against Tala’ea El Gaish in the previous round.
The result lifted the Blue Wave to 13th in the table on seven points, while Ghazl El Mahalla’s difficult start continued with a fifth defeat in their opening six matches and a third loss in succession.
The Delta club remain bottom of the standings with one point.
Badji broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, heading in a precise cross from the left delivered by Khaled El Ghandour.
It was the Senegalese player’s first goal of the season in the Egyptian Premier League and Smouha’s sixth in the competition overall.
The strike also took Badji’s Egyptian Premier League tally for Al Masry and Smouha to nine goals in 35 appearances.
