Papa Gaye: Senegal forward leaves Ittihad Tanger and becomes free agent

Senegalese centre-forward Papa Gaye has left Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger and is now a free agent after his contract with the Botola Pro Inwi club came to an end.

The 20-year-old, born in Guediawaye, departs Ittihad Tanger with his market value standing at €300,000 following a season of first-team involvement in Morocco’s top flight. His status as unattached leaves him available to sign for a new club outside the constraints of the traditional transfer-window fees.

Gaye joined Ittihad Tanger in August 2025 from AF Darou Salam, having previously spent time on loan at Swiss side FC Sion’s U21 team. That spell in Switzerland gave him early experience in European football before he settled in North Africa with Tanger.

Across his senior career to date, the centre-forward has featured in both the Moroccan Botola Pro Inwi and Switzerland’s third tier, as well as youth competition in the U19 Elite League. He has scored six goals in 40 competitive appearances at those levels, gaining minutes in league and cup football and averaging roughly a goal every 400 minutes.

Gaye’s departure from Ittihad Tanger, confirmed on 22 July 2026, ends his one-year stay with the Moroccan club and places the Senegalese striker on the market as he looks for the next step in his career.
