Palermo rumour puts Monza goalkeeper Demba Thiam in Serie B spotlight

Senegalese-Italian goalkeeper Demba Thiam is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with a move from Monza to Palermo.

The 28-year-old is currently with Monza in Serie A, while Palermo compete in Serie B. The reported interest comes with Thiam under contract at Monza until 30 June 2028, meaning any transfer would require an agreement between the clubs rather than a free move.

Thiam has made one appearance for Monza in the 2026-27 Italy Cup this season, keeping a clean sheet and completing the full 90 minutes. He joined the club from SPAL on 8 July 2025 after leaving on a free transfer.

Born in Dakar, Thiam came through SPAL’s youth system and has spent his career in Italian football. He helped SPAL win the second tier in 2016-17 and later won the Serie C Super Cup with the club. His most recent league success came with Juve Stabia, who won the Italian third tier in 2023-24.

There is no indication that a deal has been agreed, and the rumour remains at the stage of reported interest. Thiam’s current contract and his role at Monza will be central factors if Palermo pursue the goalkeeper before the transfer window closes.
