Ousmane Guindo confirmed as Mali’s National Technical Director

The Malian Football Federation (Fémafoot) has officially confirmed Ousmane Guindo as the National Technical Director (DTN), solidifying his position after serving in an interim capacity for over two years.

The decision, announced in a press release on Thursday, was framed as a recognition of his expertise, leadership, and contributions to the development of Malian football.

Federation’s Endorsement

Fémafoot emphasized Guindo’s dedication and extensive experience, stating:

“This appointment reflects Ousmane’s unwavering commitment and recognizes his professional and personal qualities. With a career devoted to football and more than two years of experience leading the National Technical Directorate as an interim, he has demonstrated a deep understanding of Malian football and its structures.”

His tenure as interim director saw significant efforts in coach training programs and youth development initiatives, both of which have been central to the federation’s long-term strategy.

The executive committee acknowledged his contributions and expressed confidence in his ability to drive further progress.

Building on a strong foundation

Guindo’s confirmation comes at a crucial time for Malian football, which has seen steady growth in recent years.

The national team, Les Aigles, continues to make strides on the international stage, and youth development remains a top priority for the federation.

As Technical Director, Guindo will be tasked with:

  • Strengthening grassroots football programs
  • Enhancing training structures for local coaches
  • Overseeing player development pathways
  • Ensuring a cohesive football philosophy across all national teams

His previous initiatives in coaching education and tactical development have already begun to bear fruit, and his leadership is expected to bring further stability and innovation to Malian football.

A key role in Malian football’s future

Fémafoot’s decision to entrust Guindo with the permanent role reflects not only his past contributions but also the federation’s long-term vision.

With a growing pool of talented young players and increased investment in domestic football, the focus now shifts to ensuring that the right technical and structural frameworks are in place to sustain success at all levels.

Guindo’s challenge will be to translate this momentum into lasting progress, ensuring that Mali’s footballing infrastructure, coaching education, and talent development continue to evolve in line with modern standards.

His expertise will be crucial in helping Mali compete more effectively on the continental and global stage.

With this appointment, Malian football takes another step toward professionalization and structured growth, setting the stage for what could be a promising future for the sport in the country.
